Since when am I
supposed to buy that Saturday Night Live is not partisan when it comes to
comedy? ‘SNL’ has made it clear just how
partisan they are for years. Mr.
Michaels, give me a break! It is a fact
that during the 2008 Presidential Elections, you and your crew skewered Sarah
Palin relentlessly while doing little to show the ridiculousness of the
Democrat candidates.
I am so sick of
the hypocrisy of the entertainment industry.
Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon
held protests against the war in Afghanistan and Iraq when Bush was
President. Where are those two now? Rosie O’Donnell was obviously upset about the
treatment of the gay and lesbian community during the Bush years, yet she is
quiet regarding the flip flops of the current administration. Where is the outrage from Janeane Garofalo
concerning all the hate filled comments regarding women coming from the left?
Obviously the
entertainment industry has the attention span of a gnat. Otherwise they’d still be speaking out on
what they perceive to be injustices.
They paid enough attention during the Bush administration but seem to be
going about their business and ignoring the current political climate and
injustices of this nation. Injustices
such as the ACLU’s continued war on Christian morals and values continue
without a word from the entertainment industry.
Once upon a
time, our favorite stars supported America.
They were proud to help our military with ‘canteens’ during WWII. They raised money by selling war bonds. They ostracized the communists within their
ranks. What happened? I guess paying attention to history is too
much for them. If they did know their
history, they’d know that under communist and socialist regimes the
entertainment industry is not free.
Apparently they don’t remember the history lesson of Hitler banning
anything he deemed inappropriate music and especially ‘black artists’.
I do remember a
time when ‘SNL’ was an equal opportunity show when it came to making fun of
politicians. During the 1992 elections,
I enjoyed the skits that made fun of Perot, Bush and Clinton. Where is the equal time now? Mr. Michaels, you had no problem poking fun
at a sitting President then. Why do you think
it’s inappropriate all of a sudden? If
you were truly ‘non-partisan’ in your humor, you would not have cancelled the
opening skit poking fun at the current administration this past Saturday. It is that hypocrisy that has kept me from
watching your show for a very long time now.
I don’t see that changing anytime in the near future. Maybe it’s time for a change in producers of
the show.
